Occhio Lounge & Sushi bar

Our dinner at Occhio on a Saturday night was such a disappointment which makes me don't know where to begin from...So I will just start from the more positives.

Service
The waitress was polite and smiley and she spoke both English and Greek which is always a good thing. Our food came relatively quick..about 20 minutes. No mistakes made in the order. My only disappointment with the service is when I ordered a filter coffee to another waitress towards the end of the night and she looked really confused about it. I wasn't sure if she was speaking Greek or English so I said it in two languages two times each and I asked her if she understood. I never got my coffee..

Prices
I believe the least expensive items in the menu are salads which range in the 12-15 Euro range. Pastas are about 14-15 Euros and the main meals range from 13 to 35 Euro. A generally expensive restaurant for the quality of food it offers.

Quality
I ordered the chicken souvlaki with wild rice and salad and my partner ordered a chicken fillet with grilled vegetables and a jacket potato.
My chicken souvlaki was really dry that it was really hard to eat. I had to put a lot of salt on it and dip it in the salad sauce in order to be able to eat. It came with two small pieces of pita but not any other sauce.
The wild rice mentioned in the menu was regular white rice and the quantity was minimal..two full big spoons at the most.
My partner's chicken fillet was really dry. Just imagine throwing a piece of chicken on the grill. It was really hard to eat..and she likes dry food. The jacket potato was big but not cooked well and the vegetables were OK.
We also ordered two bottles of white wine. The wine was the right one but none of the two bottles was as chilled as a white wine would require. Pretty disappointing especially when you take that first sip in your mouth.

Atmosphere
The atmosphere is nice. It is a really beautiful venue. Loud music started at 11 but by that time we were done with the food and were ready for some dancing. The club and the music were really good.

Overall
I think the above review sums up my feelings. It would take a lot of effort to convince me to eat there again unless I am persuaded that things have changed...

Starz

Starz is situated in Nicosia - Makedonitissa area on the Apollonio Hospital street.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I had read comments before about it, but I didn't pay much attention until I decided to try it last Thursday.

If you have ever been to the U.S then this is what you should expect. Good, caring service and huge portions. They also have a large list of wines ranging from inexpensive Cypriot wines to extremely expensive rare wines. We chose a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile which we found to be very good.

For a starter we got the Spinach Artichoke dip in order to remember the U.S days. I am still convinced that with the portion of food you get at the place, the starter is not a necessity. Nevertheless as true Cypriot I had to get my starter and finish it too.

For my main course I ordered the Flap steak which was priced at 32 Euro. It comes with a selection of soup or salad, vegetables and potatoes.
The salad came before our dinner and it was good. There was a little too much dressing on it, but it is better than the little too less dressing you get at other restaurants. But really who cares when the steak was to die for?

Cooked to perfection and to order (medium rare) it was melting in my mouth. I thought I was in heaven eating the steak. Unfortunately I didn't have any room in my belly to try any of the desserts. Especially the lava cake looked really good. But it is a lesson for next time to not get the appetizer.

I would highly recommend this restaurant even though it might be a little pricey. We paid 95 Euro for an appetizer, two steaks and a bottle of wine which was 28 Euro.
