On a rainy Thursday night, after a cocktail reception we had, my partner and I decided to try the Mexican restaurant Amigos, which is located inside Mondo café in Nicosia.
Quality of food:
Not surprising that another “Mexican” restaurant does not meet my expectations. My burrito was not tasty enough and the presentation of the plate found me astonished with a Greek salad accompanying my buritto!!!
On the positive side, they brought us complimentary chips and salsa at the beginning and some more when we asked them to.
Service:
The hostess was smiley and polite. What bothered me is that I am a Greek native speaker and my partner is an English native speaker and we couldn’t really talk to the waitress, who spoke some Greek and some English. This is very annoying, since it took us about 2 minutes to help her understand that we wanted the Queso cheese as a starter.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere is OK. It is decorated to look like a Mexican restaurant but the fact that it is connected to the café ruins the attempt a bit, since you have a full view of the café people. On the plus side, was the fact that the restaurant was empty, so it was quite and smokeless for us.
Prices:
Expensive. I am sorry but if I have to pay 8 Euro for a plate of quacamole then that is expensive. So were the burritos, so were the fajitas. To be fair however, this is not at Amigos but pretty much at any Mexican restaurant in Cyprus.
